Join Leeds United legends on the fairways!

The Leeds United Foundation Golf Society is kicking off the 2014 golf season with the first of 4 Pairs events up at the wonderful settings of Leeds Golf Centre.
The Peter Lorimer Pairs Classic will start at 2pm with a few places still remaining.
You can enter today via www.LUFCGolf.com
The winners of the event, will qualify to play in the end of season Finals
Peter Lorimer is passionate about his golf, and often partners Eddie Gray, telling us his favourite course is Panmure Golf Links in Angus, just down the River Tay from his native Dundee.
We would like to thank Peter for his help & support in setting up the Society. He spent many hours chatting over the concept in its 'still' early stages, pledging to get several Legends to the play/ attend in the Don Revie Trophy being held up at Moor Allerton Golf Club in September, one of 2 golf dedicated Charity Golf days this year.
ALL profits will be going to help with the superb work that the Leeds United Foundation do. The other charity event being the second San Siro Trophy in July being hosted once again by Cookridge Hall Golf Club, who recently won the English Golf Union ''Golf Course of the year'' award.
As well as 4 Pairs events, the Society will be running 4 Singles competitions at various venues in and around the Leeds area, with some attractive prizes to be won. Please keep an eye on the website for further details.

  • Pick and choose where and when you play.
  • Obtain an official Golf Handicap, without being a member of a club
  • Winners of each event to play in a grand final at the end of the year.
  • Every golf club, bar none we have spoken to, wants to get behind and involved in the concept, as you can imagine, its a lot of planning, organisation, and the website we are developing is crucial.
Website
The website is going to be a fantastic resource for our members and golf courses alike, we expect the website to be live in the next 10 days to 2 weeks.
Once the website is 'live' you will be able to enter our events directly and join the Society.

Leeds United Foundation Golf Society (LUFGS) - Update

As we prepare for the golfing season to start, now is a good time to tell you of the last few weeks, if not months progress, and to start the ball rolling.

We have just over 60 members, without a ball being hit, or indeed the Society actually being anything, so this shows the potential of the LUFGS. There are many people involved with the Society and many meetings have been held over the last 16 months with Leeds United, Golf Clubs in and around Leeds and with the LUFGS Committee.

Our aim is to create a Society that will last the test of time and where its members have a feeling of belonging. We can, perhaps in time, compete against other golfers from other footballing teams in regional events and acquire local golf deals. For those that are not yet members of golf clubs, this will allow them the opportunity to gain an official handicap. We will have news in the coming weeks on how you can achieve a handicap and much more, as the concept is finalised and the website further developed.

As you may have seen, we have formed a committee to overlook our 3 Annual Charity Golf events, they are; Colin Montgomerie OBE, our President, Dominic Matteo Captain, Andy Couzens Vice Captain, Peter Lorimer and Dominic Bott (well known tour caddie). We will introduce you to the remainder of the committee in due course.

Our aim to raise over £20,000 for the Charitable Leeds United Foundation in 2014. In 2013, at the San Siro Golf Day at the wonderful setting of Cookridge Hall Golf Club, we raised £8000 for the Leeds United Foundation and along with other fundraising, put our total for 2013 to almost £10,000. A personal thank you to all who helped make this possible.

LUFGS Stableford events

We will be holding 6 separate Single Stableford events.

More news about the venues & dates will be released in the next 2 weeks. The top 4 from each of these events will play in a grand final up at Cookridge Hall Golf Club to become the ultimate Society Champion, and win a fantastic prize.

I think it’s important to emphasise, this is your Golf Society too, so if you have any ideas or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact us. It has been a hectic few months to say the least and as you will see from our website www.LUFCGolf.com which is currently being redeveloped with the intention of being a fantastic resource for the membership to utilise.
